Auto Images doc sells more than 100.000 cinema tickets

The Swedish production company Auto Images has gained success with its latest cinema documentary release A Thousand Pieces (Tusen Bitar) about legendary Swedish singer / songwriter Bjørn Afzelius. The film has just crossed the 100.000 marker for cinema tickets in Sweden alone.

A Thousand Pieces opened in more than 200 Swedish and Norwegian cinemas on September 5. In less than eight weeks the film has sold more than 100.000 cinema tickets in Sweden and also gained a large audience in Norway. This makes it one of the most successful cinema documentaries in Sweden.

A Thousand Pieces portrays the legendary Swedish singer / songwriter Björn Afzelius, who was one of the best selling artist in Sweden in the 80s and early 90s. The film brings a new interpretation to his song writing and tells stories about the life secrets Afzelius sometimes did not tell his friends in person, but often included references to in his songs.

A Thousand Pieces is still running in a large number of Swedish and Norwegian cinemas. Distribution deals for further territories are currently being negotiated.

Proud co-producer

Auto Images has definitely no problem in using the expression ’a proud co-producer’. We have been a partner and co-producer in several succesful international documentary projects these last years.

In October 2013 our Finnish co-production The Punk Syndrome (Mouka Filmi, Helsinki) won Prix Europa for The Best European TV Documentary. Our Norwegian co-prod Bravehearts (Til Ungdommen, Sant og Usant) received a Special Commendation in Prix Europa’s category Best Intercultural TV Programme. Both doc’s has received international film festival awards.

During 2014 our next co-production with Mouka Filmi in Helsinki will be released. It’s Once I Dreamt of Life, a very personal film about suicide, directed by Jukka Kärkkäinen and Sini Liimatainen, produced by Sami Jahnukainen. Part of this project is also Alias Films in Berlin.
